By Staff Report-

The tenth annual Animal Welfare League’s fundraiser is set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Event, known as the Fur Ball, will be held at the Warsaw Toyota dealership on Ind. 15N, where 3 rooms will be transformed for the night.
A collection of shelter animals will be on display and attendees can vote on their favorite for $1.
This year’s silent auction includes a wide variety of items ranging from vacation weekends to antique clocks, to care packages from Vein Institute and Vera Bradley suitcases from the Hallmark Party Shop.
Warsaw and Winona Lake Police Departments will demonstration K9 Patrol dogs including the notorious and well-liked “Bubka.”
There will be a drawing as well as an auction and a dog show. Related vendors will also participate.
A guest speaker will share the story of how his dog has saved his life, and an update on the new building progress will be available.
Other items include a six-day vacation for up to 6 people to the Miller estate on Marco Island, Fla., and tickets to a Indianapolis Colt’s game.
Tickets to the Fur Ball are $45 at the door.
Executive Director, Darla McCammon encourages everyone to participate.
The event comes as the shelter continues to raise money for its new future facility located near its existing facility and south of U.S. 30.
The shelter is located at 448 W 250 N, on Warsaw’s far-east side.
Earlier this year, the shelter temporarily stopped taking in additional cats because the current facility could not accommodate any more animals.
“It has been a struggle for our shelter this year with what seems like everyone in Indiana dropping off their unwanted cats to our shelter. They seem to know we do not normally turn anyone away and try to help all pets, but we are having a difficult time with this overpopulation of cats issue.
She added: “In addition, we are trying to obtain enough funds to proceed with our building project, so we really need our community to get behind us and help us this year more than ever before.”
