He was born in Warsaw and married Ann Hundley 34 years ago.
He was educated in the Warsaw school system and graduated from Franklin University with a degree in engineering.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was an electrical and instrumentation engineer for Jeffrey Corp., Michelin Tire Corp. and the Weyerhaeuser Co. After retiring from corporate engineering, he operated Reliant Electrical Service of the Outer Banks for 11 years.
He was a lifelong woodworker whose greatest joy was making pieces for friends and family. He gave much time to Boy Scouting, serving as a scoutmaster; supported Relay for Life initiatives for many years; was an active fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project; and was a member of the Episcopal church.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Firman and Frances Sensibaugh, Franklin, Va.; children: Joseph L. (and wife Jennifer) Sensibaugh, Herndon, Va.; Lee A. Sensibaugh Jr., New Orleans, La.; and Cheryl A. Sensibaugh, Atlanta, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Violet.
A memorial service with military honors was held Sept. 6 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Asheville.
Groce Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
