Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man they had been looking for since 2015 in connection with a robbery that left another man in intensive care.
Valente Ceballos Jr, 32, of 423 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 9:20 p.m. Sunday.
Ceballos is charged with one count of robbery with serious bodily injury, a level 2 felony, and one count of battery causing a serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County?Prosecutor’s Office, on Nov. 1 police responded to a battery call and found a victim with a swollen right eye and multiple bruises to the forehead and back of the head.
The victim informed police that Ceballos showed up at his house with some other people upset that the victim had been with the daughter of one of the men. The victim told police Ceballos began slapping and hitting him in the face and took his iPhone and wallet that contained $500 cash.
The victim was taken to the intensive care unit at Luthern Hospital for loss of vision to his right eye and internal bleeding behind that eye.
A warrant was issued for Ceballos in November.
Ceballos was previously arrested in Donaldsonville, La., on a theft charge. When law enforcement ran his information, the warrant from?Kosciusko County came up. Officers from KCSD traveled to Louisiana to pick him up on the warrant, according to Chad Hill, public information officer for the department.
Ceballos was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail and is being held on a $20,250 bond.
