High School Roundup: Lady Tiger Soccer Earns Conference Win At Concord
By Staff Report-
Steffensmeier opened the Warsaw scoring midway through the first half off passes from Brenna Shipley and Sydney Wiedeman.
After Concord tied the match just before halftime, Buhrt collected the ball a little bit outside of the Concord 18. She fired home a shot to the far post that ended up being the game winner. Warsaw added an insurance goal a short time later, as Delaney Taylor found Steffensmeier for her second goal of the night.
“This was a tough-fought, hard contest between two NLC rivals,” Warsaw head coach Peter Lucht said. “Concord has traditionally had a strong program, and they did their best to stop us from winning. They should be proud of their efforts.
“I know that I’m proud of the heart that our girls displayed tonight. Offensively, we were not clicking, and we left a few goals to be had. In fact, when it was 1-1 at halftime, I told the girls that the problem was not in their heart. The girls kept on pushing, and the breakthrough finally came partway through the second half. Once that second goal went in, I think a little pressure came off, and then we were able to put the third goal in that really sealed the deal.”

Warsaw improved to 5-0 in the NLC and 8-3 overall. The Lady Tigers travel to Fort Wayne Northrop Monday.
