She was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Warsaw, to Francis and Sylvia Haws Shafer.
She was a lifetime resident of Warsaw and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eagle Lodge, Warsaw.
She loved country music and the gospel singer Daniel O’Donnell. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her cat “Tiny Tina” and her daughter’s dogs, Precious and Buddy. She also was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Doris is survived by six of seven children: Kim (and spouse David) Mitchell, Claypool; Penny (and spouse James) Blair, Patricia (and spouse Jay) Rice and Vickie Lambert, all of Warsaw; Laura (and spouse Robert) Dockery, New Bern, N.C.; and Gary (and spouse Jennifer) Konkle, Leesburg; 22 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents; a sister, Gladys Armey; four brothers, Robert, Jack, Richard and Francis Shafer Jr.; a son, Tom Konkle; and a grandson, Joshua Blair.
A celebration of life for family and friends is planned from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at VFW Post 1126.
Burial will be private at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
