INMAN, S.C. ­­–Norman Harry Fariss, 82, 160 Chestnut Lake Drive, died at home under the care of his loving family and Lutheran Hospice and graduated from the school of life and received his diploma from Jesus on Aug. 31, 2016.
Born in Kentland, Ind., on Dec. 13, 1933, he was a son of the late Hazel (Fariss) Lindall and Thurman Keown, and was later adopted and raised by Fielden Fariss. He was the loving husband of Donna Jean (Fletcher) Fariss, having celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Mr. Fariss served in the United States Army and retired from R.R. Donnelley after many years of service. He had a love of working with gourds and was a member of the American Gourds Society.
In addition to his loving wife, Donna, he is survived by a daughter, Kim Taylor and husband Allen; a granddaughter, Amber Taylor Holder and husband Devon; a grandson, Chad Taylor; a granddaughter, Kaydee Beth Taylor, all of Boiling Springs, S.C.; and Teresa Hill, whom he thought of as a granddaughter; a sister, Beatrice Bullington and husband Dean of Delphi, Ind.; two brothers-in-law, Charles Fletcher and Gene Fletcher and three sisters-in-law, Mary Sharpf, Jolyne Martin and Faith Ann Redding. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Hall; a brother-in-law, Robert Fletcher; and a sister-in-law Patricia Westwood.
The family will receive friends at Seawright Funeral Home from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Monday. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel, with Kevin Hill and Devon Holder officiating.
