Hoffert, Robertson To Attend Next Generation School Summit

On Monday, the Next Generation Summit will bring together educational leaders, state and local officials, philanthropists, industry leaders and entrepreneurs devoted to reinventing the school experience to better empower students and prepare them for success in college and career, according to a press release from WCS.
The meeting will be hosted and led by senior policymakers from the White House and the U.S. Department of Education.
A major focus of the summit is the redesign of secondary education through personalized technology, project-based maker learning, advanced access to dual credit courses and strong community partnerships with industrial needs, the release states.
"The invitation to the Next Generation Schools Summit at the White House speaks to the incredible collaboration and teamwork of our staff, community and families here in Warsaw,” stated Robertson. “The innovation to plan, prepare and execute cutting edge curriculum simply isn't possible without the support and shared leadership of all involved. Together we're able to achieve our mission, allowing students to pursue their dreams."
In the 2015-16 school year, Warsaw Community High School and Warsaw Area Career Center students earned over $1.3 million in college credits.
Hoffert said, “It is an honor for WCS to be recognized as a national leader in the redesign of education. We are extremely proud of our advanced curriculum and the strong partnerships with local industry. The wide course offerings and career pathways developed by WCS assist in the development of student dreams and the high tech skills needed by the local and global workforce.”
While at the White House, Hoffert and Robertson will be involved in action planning discussions focused on curriculum envisioning the future of secondary education. They will also be involved in an evening screening on the White House grounds of a new PBS documentary on education.
The September visit will be Hoffert’s second trip to the White House. In 2014 he was recognized nationally as a top 100 Future-Ready School Superintendent.
