Sign Theft Shows Ignorance

Editor, Times-Union:
On Monday evening, the “Trump for President” sign in my front yard was stolen. My first emotion was outrage – someone intentionally stole my property. The second was sadness – this person was a thug attempting intimidation by taking away my First Amendment right. How sad to think this individual must be ignorant of the American Constitution, perhaps never taught about our inherent right to express differing opinions. Seems progressive Democrats take issue with that concept, as evidenced in the media everywhere.
I found this thievery a reinforcement for posting my sign in the first place. Word of this theft had the same effect on friends and neighbors, no matter their political inclination. Someone tried to take away my freedom of speech through suppression.
The end result is that I will buy a new sign; perhaps this one will disappear, too. If it does, I am sure that act of cowardice will also be rewarded by additional votes being cast on Nov. 8, 2016.
