How To Bring Jobs Back

Trump says he knows how to bring jobs back to America. Lowering business taxes and punishing companies that move out of America with tariffs when they bring products here is a start. There are other things that could be done to bring jobs back to America and create replacement jobs.
We need a department in the Department of Labor called the Department of Industrial Research and Development. It would employ people in many industries to develop technologies and equipment that could help companies create jobs and do things better. Inventors could be employed by the DOIRAD to invent things that would be perfected in a shorter time than it takes for an inventor to patent a device. Today it is expensive and time-consuming. But if the Manhattan Project could develop the atomic bomb from theory to a weapon within five years, DOIRAD should be able to develop numberless things for industries that are needed in weeks or months and not years.
A century ago we had a lot of auto companies, motorcycle companies and other companies that have disappeared that employed multitudes. Competition drove companies to make the best they could turn out to sell products to as many people possible. Consolidation and economic hard times drove companies out of business. We need more start-up companies that will stay in business long enough to become profitable and with futures for the employees. Profit sharing might make companies better places to work at than unions do and make workers work harder because they will know the better job they can do can increase the amount of money they make from the company. If companies that have moved out of America lose customers to these new companies, they might come back to America to compete without the burden of tariffs.
Boeing is a century old and has been running a commercial about how life might be in 2116. When I think about the future, I try to go beyond the period I am dealing with and think back to the future. That’s why I think the plane they show will be an antique by 2116. We need visionaries that think centuries ahead instead of only what we will need tomorrow. Your next car may not be a flying car that uses a double-field motive system to levitate. But maybe a few years from now you might buy plasma igniters and not spark plugs to increase mileage and reduce pollution.
Doing business in America is tougher with high taxes and needless restrictions and regulations. Maybe having the businessman Donald Trump in the White House will get America back to work.
