Groninger Signs With Indiana Wesleyan

By Staff Report-

Dayton Groninger, a two-time All Northern Lakes Conference first-team selection and an Indiana Top 100 Workout and Showcase invitee, tipped off the start of her senior season by signing a letter-of-intent to play basketball and attend school next year at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Groninger, a go-to-player that led the Lady Tigers in scoring the past two seasons, was named to the Times-Union All-Area team after tremendous sophomore and junior seasons.
She was also an Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Subway All-State Honorable Mention pick last year after leading her team in scoring (game-high 28 vs. Wabash), rebounding (career-high 16 vs. Oregon Davis), steals, assists, and free-throw percentage.
While Groninger has been a key force for the Lady Tigers and coach Michelle Harter (sectional champs 2015, runner-up 2016), Groninger was also an instrumental figure in Warsaw's sectional and regional track championships last season as a member of the regional champion 4x800 squad. A participant in the 800-meter run, Groninger and her 4x800 teammates set the school record for the fastest indoor time during last year's indoor season.
While Groninger has found success on the hardwood and on the track outside of school, her outstanding efforts in the classroom have landed her in the top 10 percent of her graduating class with a 12.1 GPA on a 12-point scale. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Tiger Student Athletic Board, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Groninger plans to major in Exercise Science at Indiana Wesleyan, an area of study where she is getting great experience serving with Miller's Merry Manor during an internship this semester.
She will play for coach Steve Brooks and the Wildcats.  Indiana Wesleyan is affiliated with the NAIA and NCCAA and is a member of the Crossroads League.
