FULTON – Triton head coach Ron Brown made sure his team remembered the Trojans’ last trip to Caston, a 6-0 loss to start the season.
Mission accomplished: Triton whipped the host Comets 50-0 in the opening round of 1A Sectional 43 Friday night.
“We had kids flying around making some big hits, and running through people. Our offensive line did a great job of blocking their players and really rising to the challenge,” Brown said.
Senior Zac Pitney opened the scoring with a school-record 39-yard field goal. Rigo Butler scored the first of his two touchdowns from 20 yards out in the opening period. He finished with 125 yards on 16 carries.
Sophomore quarterback James “Bo” Snyder completed nine passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns, and he rushed for two more scores. Max Slusser had a touchdown rushing, and Tye Orsund and Drew Stichter each caught touchdown passes.
Malachi Greene and Caden Marr each had an interception in the game.
“As much as you can, we got the revenge we wanted,” Brown said. “I think we’re still going to have to work very hard for added respect, but that’s OK; I like for our kids to have a chip on their shoulder.”
Triton won its second-straight game after opening the season with eight losses, and has scored 91 points in the two victories.
The Trojans will host No. 8 Southwood in the second round of the sectional at 7 p.m. Friday.

Get To Know The Team: Warsaw Captains Q&A
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of going to a Warsaw football practice and speaking with four of the team’s five captains. With so much having been written in recent weeks about their performance on the field, and rightfully so, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit and ask them some questions about themselves. Each of the four players were asked the same eight questions. Below are each of their answers.
