Manchester Trips Delphi
By Staff Report-
“Like I told them before the game, ‘our season comes down to six games. Whatever happened before doesn’t matter; every team in the state is 0-0 and it comes down to a six-game sprint at the end,’” said Squire head coach Greg Miller. “Our first game against Delphi, we needed to take care of business to keep playing, and the kids came out and did that.
“I thought defensively we played extremely well. We created turnovers and had a 20-7 lead at the end of the first half.
“But good teams make halftime adjustments, and Delphi stopped us on our first drive. They threw some different things at us in the second half. In the third quarter they came back and made it a close game. But our kids responded and we came away with the win.”
Manchester (2-8) will travel to No. 8 Bremen (7-3) in the second round of the sectional Friday night. The Lions advanced with a 35-14 win over Wabash in Bremen.
