Lutie Ellen Beatty, 87, known by most simply as “Granny,” passed away at 11:26 a.m. Oct. 12, 2016, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
She was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Warsaw, to Artie and Florence Ryan Long
She was a lifetime resident of the Leesburg and Warsaw areas. She worked at R.R. Donnelley for nearly 30 years, working first in the bindery and later as a security guard.
She was very generous and giving, rarely missing an opportunity to send a special note or greeting card. She enjoyed whizzing around in her 1998 Camaro Z28 convertible and liked to arrange flowers.
She had a knack for decorating and loved to shop and collect, especially seraphim and snowmen – Christmas was her favorite. For many years she played Mrs. Claus at R.R. Donnelley.
In addition, she was a longtime, faithful attendee of Leesburg Grace Brethren Church.
Survivors include a sister, Bertie Lentz, South Bend; two granddaughters, Heather Beatty, Warsaw, and Hillary Kammerer, Milford; a grandson, Branden Beatty, North Webster; four great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hanna, Leesburg. The funeral will be at noon Oct. 22, 2016, at Leesburg Grace Brethren Church, 101 W. School St., Leesburg, with Pastor Tim Sprankle officiating. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery.
