COLUMBIA CITY — Charles Edward Snyder, 70, Columbia City, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Nov. 22, 2016, at Parkview Whitley Hospital. 
Born Sept. 18, 1946, in Roaring Springs, Pa., he was the son of Wilbur L. and Betty L. Aungst Snyder.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County from 1965 to 2004, when he moved to the Whitley County area. He graduated from Central Cove High School in Martinsburg, Pa., with the class of 1964. He attended Grace College, St. Francis College and Indiana University while attending IPFW. On Dec. 19, 2004, he married Patricia J. Goodin. 
After 41 years of service, Charles retired from Whitko Community Schools in 2010. He had been a principal and teacher at Larwill, Pierceton and Whitko Middle Schools. He also helped start the Whitko football program. He was a life-long member of his hometown church, Roaring Springs Mennonite Church, and recently transferred his membership to New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Snyder; a daughter, Sara (spouse Jamie) Yinger, Columbus, Ohio; four sons: Bart (spouse Kelly) Goodin, Brent Goodin and Brad (spouse Kim) Goodin, all of Columbia City, and Ben (spouse Chana) Goodin, Fort Wayne; his mother, Betty Snyder, Roaring Springs; a brother, Dennis (spouse Karen) Snyder, Roaring Springs; a sister, Betty Lou (spouse Steve) Boyer, Myerstown, Pa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.  
He was preceded by his father.
Private family visitation and graveside services will be Saturday at Stough Cemetery, 2400 N. Etna Road, Columbia City, with Pastor Jason Tash officiating. 
A public memorial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City. 
Arrangements were entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City.
