Dorothy Lorraine Elliott, having recently celebrated her 80th birthday, passed away in the early hours of Nov. 21, 2016.
She was born Nov. 17, 1936, to Ernest and Mable Redding Cremeens. She was born in Aladdin, Wyo., though the family moved to Leesburg when she was a young girl.
She spent much of her childhood in Leesburg and graduated from Leesburg High School with the class of 1955.
She was married to William Elliott on July 16, 1974, in Virginia, although their relationship blossomed for several years before they were united in marriage. Together the two share nearly 50 years and five children; William survives.
She had worked for many years at Dana-Weatherhead, Syracuse. Before her retirement, she had worked as the manager of several local Dollar General stores.
She loved hummingbirds, flowers of all kinds and riding horses – especially bareback, doing so until she was more than 60 years old. She had a kooky sense of humor and was kindhearted. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, William Elliott Sr., she is survived by five children: Brian (spouse Melissa) Grindle, Oswego; Tari Sue (spouse Patrick) Blocher, North Webster; William (spouse Tana) Elliott Jr., Etna Green; Bobbi (spouse Jerry) Wood, Milford; and Amy (spouse Charles) Bradley, Claypool; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosie (spouse Billy) Carr, Ottawa, Ill. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Friends may join family for a time of visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw.
A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Pastor J.C. Sparks of The River Worship Center, Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will be in Sidney Cemetery.
