NORTH WEBSTER – Donald G. "Don" Matson, 70, passed away at 11:31 a.m. Nov. 15, 2016, at Reid Hospital, Richmond. 
He was born Dec. 28, 1945, in East Chicago, to George and Ann E. Hora Matson. 
He attended Roosevelt High School in East Chicago and was a United States Army veteran. He grew up in East Chicago and lived most of his life in the Crown Point and Demotte areas. He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago after 30 years.
He formerly attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Chicago.
He is survived by eight daughters; a son; two sisters, MaryAnn (spouse Ronald) Haskins, North Webster, and Rose Dollinar, Dyer; and two brothers, Frank (spouse Linda) Matson, Hammond, and Robert (spouse Joyce) Matson, North Webster.
He was preceded by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Patton and Florence Matson; and a brother, Michael Matson. 
Private family services will take place at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, with Deacon Marion Carpenter of All Saints Episcopal Church, Syracuse, officiating. Cremation will follow at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Hammond, at a later date.
