By Staff Report-
Trinity United Methodist on Center Street hosted the event.
Opening the ceremony, Warsaw Police officer David Morales and fireman Michael Wilson presented the Colors and led the procession of Scouts into the sanctuary. Senior Patrol Leader Alex Jordan led the pledge and then welcomed the guests, who filled the church. Troop chaplain Chris Cook read the invocation, followed by Andrew Frush and Connor Joy, who gave the meaning of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.
Scoutmaster Richard McCleary introduced the Eagle Honor Guard, which was made up of Eagle Scouts from past years. They were: Trevor Callahan, 2010; Bryston Canada, 2016; Phillip Hawks, 2002; Nick Hawn, 2012; Eric King, 2008; Nick King, 2005; Zach Laureano, 2012; Trent McClintock, 2004; and Kole Smith, 2012. Rick McCleary, 1982, was the honor guard coordinator.
Jean Northenor introduced newly elected U.S. Congressman Jim Banks, who was the guest speaker for the evening. Anthony Wayne Area Council Field Director Jim Molebash read “An Eagle Dad’s Poem.”
Indiana State Rep. David Wolkins then presented the Eagle Award to Will Bibler, son of Bill and Benita Bibler; Grayden Dunham, son of Jacob and Courtney Dunham; Ryan Harris, son of Rob and Leona Harris; Jacob Hawn, son of Joe and Lynette Hawn; Dyllan Hernandez, son of Trish Hernandez; Dillon King, son of David and Deanna King; Parker Kelley, son of Eric and Lynda Kelley; Chase Madsen, son of Diane Madsen and Reed Stockman; and Sean Stabler, son of Regina Ramey. Bryston Canada will receive his Eagle Award at a later date in Akron.
Lincolnway District Eagle Chairman Ken Locke gave the Eagle Charge and this was followed by Northenor reading a poem titled “The Boy Scout’s Mother Asked.”
Rachael Bibler, an aide to Gov. Eric Holcomb, presented each Eagle Scout a letter of congratulation. The newly awarded Eagle Scouts then presented their fathers and mothers with an Eagle Pin. Pastor Ernie Troxell closed the ceremony with the benediction.
It was pointed out that Northenor had been working with McCleary on these Eagle ceremonies since his first one in 1982. Several people said after the program that they enjoyed the two of them joking and ad-libbing on stage.
McCleary has been leading Troop 715 for 40 years and has mentored 110 Eagle Scouts. He plans to hand over the leadership position in mid-January, but remain on as a committee member. He also will retain the position of the director of the District Day Camp, which he started in 1976, on his farm south of Warsaw.
