PIERCETON – Hilda S. Earnhart, 98, Syracuse, formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. 
She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Wilmot, to John William and Sadie C. Beezley Scott. She was married on May 12, 1941, in Pierceton, to Hollis F. Earnhart, who preceded her on July 28, 1983. 
She grew up in Noble County, attended Washington Township Public School and lived most of her life in the Pierceton area before moving to Waterford Crossing in Goshen. She retired from the Whitko School Corp., where she was a custodian at Pierceton School for 32 years. 
She was a member of Salem Community Church, Wilmot, and Fairfield Extension Homemakers, Goshen, and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star & Fire Department Auxiliary, both in Pierceton.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (spouse Beverly) Earnhart, Goshen, and Roger Earnhart, Mason; four  grandchildren: Roberta (spouse Jeff) Yoder, West Liberty, Ohio; Steven (spouse Lisa) Earnhart, Indianapolis; Anita (spouse Duane) Wilson, Plymouth; and Rae Elin Earnhart Sneery, Dunkirk; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Engle, Yucaipa, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; two sisters, Ilah Roberts and Betty Knecht; and three brothers: Charles “Cy,” Paul “Chub” and James Scott. 
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Colby of Salem Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.
