NORTH MANCHESTER — Clayton Howard, 89, Silver Lake, died at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 8, 2016, at Mason Healthcare, Warsaw.
He was born July 28, 1927, in Gunlock, Ky., to Silas and Mona Prater Howard. On July 1, 1946, he married Elsie Neeley, who survives.
He retired from Woodcraft Inc., North Manchester, in 2001 after 15 years. He formerly was employed at Norfolk & Western Rail Road for 12 years and White Metal, Warsaw, for 16 years. 
He was a member of Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Also surviving are a son, Dr. Michael D. (spouse Sharon) Howard, La Porte; a brother, Forrest (spouse Mary) Howard, North Manchester; four sisters:?Mabel Miller, Milford; and Effie (spouse Glen) Allen, Geraldine Howard and Ilant (spouse Chandler) Shepherd, all of Silver Lake; two grandchildren, Jonathon and David Howard; and two great-grandchildren, Kei Howard and Riko Howard.
He was preceded by two daughters, Velma Howard in 1996 and Wilma Howard in 2013; and a brother, Silas Howard.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Pastor Ward Etsie Allen and Evangelist David Weller officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary.
