Thank You, Veterans

Editor, Times-Union:
I often think “What would it be,”
if it were not for the veterans, who fought for me.
The things I take for granted and enjoy you see,
are only in America,  the land of the free.

The stories I’ve  heard of  World Wars One and Two,
about the brave men and women, and what they went through.
Many were very young when they were across the sea,
they were fighting for America, to keep our land free.

They served our country,  here and afar,
during the Korean, Vietnam and also the Gulf War.
Today, fighting terrorism, many will not come back,
from the mountains of Afghanistan and the deserts of Iraq.

Many gave their lives for you and me,
they sacrificed their all, so we could be free.
I think of the veterans and how proud they must be
for protecting our nation, the land of the free.

Now when I think, “What would it be,”
I think of my grandson, helping to protect me.
Remember, because of our veterans, America will always be,
the home of the brave and the land of the free.

Thank you veterans
