NORTH MANCHESTER – Junior Cierra Cater and sophomore Sydney Day had 10 points each as Manchester rolled over Adams Central 51-20 in the girls basketball season opener for both teams Saturday night.
Erika Kendall had nine points for the Lady Squires, and Bailey Sewell added six in the win.
After taking a 10-4 lead after the first quarter, Manchester grounded the Lady Flying Jets 21-5 in the second period to assume command of the game. Adams Central didn’t score more than six points in any period.
“The entire team played well tonight with 10 different girls scoring and every girl providing production in all positions,” Manchester head coach Jacob Everett said. “Our balanced team game was exciting to watch and I was very pleased with our team.”
In the junior varsity game Mackenzie Day, Bailey Mooney, Kyrsten Eakright and Kennidy Lauer scored four points each to lead the Lady Squires to a 25-5 win over Adams Central. Kiera Hatfield and Mooney led the Lady Squires with five rebounds each. Kiera Stacy and Rachel Cave had three points each, Gabbie Brewer had two points and Hatfield one point to round out the Manchester scoring.
The Lady Squires are back in action at 7:30  p.m. Tuesday when they host Lewis Cass. The JV game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m.
