Flag Flip-Flop Tied To Nation’s Sagging Morality

Christ over nation?
In a subtle move made six months ago, the pastor of New Life Christian Church and World Outreach decided to move the Christian Church up to the top of the church’s flag pole and above the U.S. flag.
Flag protocol calls for the U.S. flag to be at the top when more than one flag is displayed.
But Pastor John B. Lowe said he has had enough with the nation’s immorality and made the change this summer.
Was it spurred by the upcoming presidential race featuring two less-than popular candidates? Or maybe the bathroom bill in North Carolina?
No, rather, it is the drip, drip, drip of immorality and what he describes as the erosion of religious liberties in the United States.
He said he believes freedom of religion is being encroached upon and points to abortion and murder as examples.
Lowe compared the erosion to a frog in the kettle that is being heated and eventually kills the frog.
“Little by little, we’ve given up our liberties, our freedoms, the right of what is right and what is wrong and what is moral and what is not moral,” he said.
“This has been building to this situation for 40 or 50 years.”
He also thinks Christians are under assault.
“You can talk about any religion and any religious person nearly in history with no blow back, but when you start talking about Jesus Christ, all the sudden, now you’re being a bigot.”
Lowe said he made the change and shared it with his congregation.
He said they had a few people ask about the change, and that after sharing his concerns they were in agreement.
Lowe said he’s aware of a few other churches across the country that have made a similar move.
His church, as well as the Times-Union, both received calls questioning the move.
Lowe said he suspects the call came from a military veteran.
Lowe rejects the notion that it is disrespectful.
“It is not a slander by any means,”?he said.
He said he realizes some veterans and others may find the move offensive, but points out that his church proudly salutes veterans each year.
That was the case this week when multiple American flags dotted the church’s front lawn. The salute, he points out, is an annual event.
He said he doesn’t think either presidential candidate is moral.
He said the corrupt political society repels good, moral people from becoming involved in politics.
“It’s a shame we’ve come to this place to where some of the most qualified people aren’t running because they just don’t want the hassle,” he said.
