November 5, 2016 at 5:33 a.m.

By Staff Report-

The Big Celebration, sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters, on Nov. 10 is a chance to have a good time and to give back to the community.
The benefit, in its third year, will feature a silent auction, dinner, a fashion show and a grand prize giveaway. There is no cost to attend, but there are several ways to contribute.
Each attendee will be given a golden ticket for door prizes, and additional tickets may be purchased: one ticket for $1, six tickets for $5 or 25 tickets for $20. Anyone who makes a donation of $75 will be entered to win a $500 shopping spree from Kohl’s.
Another way to contribute is by joining Big Brothers Big Sisters’ monthly giving program called Match Makers. Anyone who becomes a Match Maker will receive a chance to win the Kohl’s shopping spree and a chance to win a seven-day stay in Miami.
The Big Celebration will be in Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Ave., Winona Lake.
Doors to the reception and silent auction will open at 5:30 p.m. The auction will feature items donated from local businesses and eateries, household items and autographed sports memorabilia.
Dinner and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will include a testimonial from a Big Brother and a Little Brother and a fashion show featuring Bigs and Littles from Kosciusko County.
The evening also will include the presentation of the 2016 Charles D. Smith Award, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate “passionate volunteerism, strong community leadership and a lifelong commitment to serving others.” The award was established in 2015 in honor of the  late Charlie Smith, who “created a living legacy of civic service as an educator, mentor, leader and community advocate.”
All funds raised from the Big Celebration will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters programs in Kosciusko County.
Those who plan to attend should RSVP to Shelley Schwab at  574-306-2178 or michelle.schwab@bbbsnei.
