First Friday Theme: ‘Thanks For Giving’

The theme for Friday is “Thanks for Giving.” Non-profit groups will be showcasing their services, according to First Friday coordinator Paula Bowman.
“There are many opportunities to share and to help out the different organizations in the community,” she said.
Friday’s event is 5 to 9 p.m. downtown Warsaw. In their tents, booths and on their tables, the organizations will have their wants and wish lists.
Vendors and food will be available as usual at First Friday.
On center stage will be pianist David Haney. “He is an amazing pianist,” Bowman stated. From Warsaw, she said Haney has played at First Friday before a couple of years ago and provides “wonderful” background music.
My Red Moon, a clothing, antiques and collectibles company, will have a “pop-up” store in the old Crownover Jewelry store at 104 E. Center St. The company is expected to open soon and the pop up event is the first chance for customers to check out the new downtown retail operation. The company has several stores Kosciusko County as well as North Manchester.
Also this month, on Nov. 26, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Bowman said the “Shop Local” event will take place. All downtown merchants will be participating, she said, offering some great shopping deals. It’s an opportunity to highlight local businesses.
First Friday in December will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 with a “Hometown Holly Days” theme. It will include the annual Twinkle Light Parade, carriage rides and shopping opportunities.
The carriage rides will take passengers to Central Park for the Christmas light display. Cost is non-perishable food items for food pantries, or toys for Toys For Tots.
Bowman said anyone interested in being in the Twinkle Light Parade can contact her.
“It’s growing every year,” she said.
It starts in the old Owen’s parking lot, travels down Center Street to Indiana Street and then down to Central Park before going around back to the courthouse square.
There will not be a First Friday event in January February’s event will be “Fire & Ice,” with ice sculptures.
