Tapas Fundraiser Planned At Grace To Help Lavender Couple

Several local restaurants are working together to help defray medical expenses for Derek and Leanne Lavender.
Derek Lavender suffered serious injuries in a June 15 motorcycle accident.
The event, “A Time to Sample Some
Tapas,” is planned at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Gordon Rec Center Aerobic Dance Studio at Grace College.
Cerulean, Maple Leaf Farms, La Consentida and other restaurants will provide food for patrons of the event to sample.
Cost is $5.
The event is an extension of the Grace College GOAL, accelerated bachelor’s degree program.
The Lavenders currently live in Indianapolis, but have strong local ties.
Derek is the son of Joy and the late Jay Lavender, of Warsaw.
Leanne is a Grace College graduate who worked for the Grace admissions office in Winona Lake and Indianapolis.
All ticket sales and donations from the event will go toward Derek’s medical expenses.
