SOUTH WHITLEY – George Harold Dome, 100, Sidney, died at 4:45 a.m. Oct. 31, 2016, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where he had been a resident since November 2015.
He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Sidney, a son of Loyal W. and Frances Palmer Dome. On April 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Norma A. Heeter. 
He graduated from Sidney High School in 1934.
On April 12, 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged Oct. 4, 1945.
George and Norma made their home on a farm near Sidney until becoming residents at Peabody. He was a livestock farmer and retired from W.J. Carey Construction.
He was a member of Collamer Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; four children: John H. (and spouse Shirley) Dome, Sidney; Ruth Ann Dome, Hyden, Ky.; Thomas (and spouse Nancy) Dome, South Whitley; and Nancy (and spouse Dennis) Patton, Franklin; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; a brother, David Dome, Lynchburg Mo.; and a sister, Margaret Townsend, Warsaw.
He was preceded by three sisters: Geneva Moore, Irene Dome and Doris Bickett.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
