Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved allowing a professional office in a residential-zoned district during Monday night’s meeting.

The board approved the use variance request from Bradley K. Skiles for the financial services office building at 1303 E. Center St.

Skiles spoke during the meeting and said the business has 10 to 15 people per week using the building, and significant curb appeal will enhance the property value.

The board approved the use variance with restrictions that the sign advertising the business not be lit internally or externally.

Board member Rick Keeven approved the use variance, and board member Sean Boylan seconded the motion. Board member Tom Allen voted in support of the use variance.

Board member Mary Ellen-Rudisel abstained from the vote since Skiles is her client.

The building will be used by Woolman Financing Group, and provide financial advising services.

In other business, the board approved a variance from development standards request from Skiles to allow a 16-square-foot sign at the property.

Also during the meeting, Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins swore in new member Derrick Andrew Haniford. Haniford replaces Bruce Woodward, who resigned from the board and is moving out of the city limits into the county and can no longer serve on the board.

Wiggins presented Woodward with a plaque for his service.

The board also voted Keeven as vice president to replace Woodward.[[In-content Ad]]
