NORTH MANCHESTER - Zola A. Miller, 90, of North Manchester, died at 12:50 a.m. Feb. 8, 2009, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Altoona, Pa., to William and Mary Mae Nelson Simpson. On June 29, 1946, she married the Rev. L. Byron Miller, who survives.

An elementary school teacher, she retired after 16 years in Cambridge City and Akron, Ohio. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren and Ohio State Teachers Association. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1936; attended Bible Training School at Bethany Seminary from 1941-43; graduated from Bridgewater College with a bachelor's degree in 1945; and earned her master's degree in education from Ball State University in 1968.

Surviving are two sons, Julian Miller, Bluffton, and Stanley (and spouse Linda) Miller, North Manchester; three daughters, Rowena (and spouse Darrel) Fourman, Fayetteville, Ga.; Anita Miller, North Manchester; and Lillian Long, Philippi, W.Va.; a brother, Olin Simpson, Lititz, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, rural Silver Lake.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Friday at Timbercrest Chapel.
