Kosciusko Community YMCA invites the public to the kickoff of the community phase of their “Shaping the Future” fundraising campaign with a family-friendly celebration at their future site.
The event is June 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In December the YMCA announced plans for the development of a new YMCA facility on U.S. 30 and Mariner Drive.
Initial plans for the new YMCA include a health and wellness center, lap pool, instructional warm water pool, multi-purpose gathering spaces, a youth and teen center, a double gymnasium and outdoor space for day camp.
The size and scope of the new YMCA facility will ultimately be determined by the generosity of the community in support of this effort.
“The Y has been serving the community for more than 50 years. As the needs of the community change and grow, it is up to all of us to look at new ways of helping our neighbors be healthy, safe and supported,” said Chad Zaucha, Kosciusko Community YMCA CEO.
“We know we can’t do it alone and that our community is stronger when we work together.  Together we can improve the lives of all who live and work in Kosciusko County.”
]The YMCA and local leaders will update the community on the early success of the capital campaign, announce the anticipated timeline for construction and opening, and invite the community to support its new YMCA.
A video and architectural renderings will be featured to showcase the planned facility. Weather permitting, guests will be able to view and explore the floor plan of the new building.
“This new Y is for the children, adults and families in our community. It will be a place for people from all walks of life to come together to gather and improve their quality of life,” Zaucha said. “The celebration is all about uniting our community and inviting the residents to join us in this exciting campaign.”
Food and refreshments will be available, along with a moonwalk for children.
RSVP by June 21 by emailing Membership Director Lori Haywood at [email protected] or by calling 574-269-9622.  Parking will be available at the end of Mariner Drive.
