By TERESA SMITH, Times-Union Staff Writer-

Deb Wulliman is announcing her candidacy for county recorder. She's been a deputy recorder since 1998.

"I feel I'm ready to do the job," the first-time candidate said today. "I hope everyone feels I'm qualified for the job."

The recorder's office is currently held by LaShawn Brumfield. She has held the post for two consecutive terms and is ineligible to run for the recorder's office again.

Wulliman, who is single, says her goals as recorder are to continue with the current procedures of the office. The main responsibilities of the recorder and four deputies are to record public documents, primarily deeds and mortgages.

"The work slows down in the winter. Depending on what the market is doing we're sometimes very busy."

She is very familiar with the day-to-day running of the office and plans to check into making documents available on a Web site and explore the possibility of taking credit or debit card payments.

Wulliman is a 1988 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and she attended Indiana State University from August 1988 to December 1990. She has continued her education with organizational leadership courses through IPFW and taken several computer classes.

She is a member in several organizations including: the WCHS Adult Tiger Club, the Republican Women's Club, First United Methodist Church and Indiana Association of County Recorders.

She volunteers as a cheer coach for Lakeview Middle School, for the Community Soup Kitchen and for the Salvation Army. She remains active in softball and participates in numerous leagues at the CCAC. [[In-content Ad]]
