During Friday’s meeting, Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved Warsaw Police Department applying for three grants.
WPD will apply for a $63,000 Fatal Accident Crash Team grant from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
WPD’s portion of the grant will be approximately $12,000.
The project is to enforce an effort between law enforcement agencies within Kosciusko County to properly investigate and prosecute fatality and serious bodily injury traffic accidents that involve alcohol, drugs or reckless driving.
The board also approved WPD applying for a $25,000 DUI task force grant to combat impaired driving. WPD’s portion will be $7,000.

Board member Joe Thallemer made the motion to table the decision to learn more about the accounting support service agreement before the board makes a decision.
The board approved in April a purchase agreement request by WFD to purchase two acres of property on CR 200S from Warsaw Community Church for a new fire station.
