Greg Rauen, WCN disaster relief coordinator, and his wife, Robyn, will travel today to Moore, Okla., to deliver WCN’s 70,000-watt generator as well as 180 bags of hygiene products that were donated by the community.
WCN has an office in Warsaw and is a disaster relief organization whose mission is to relieve suffering of people who have been involved in natural and man-made disasters and work with churches to provide aid.
Flood buckets with bleach, sponges, clothes pins, clothes lines, masks and laundry detergent also will be delivered.
Josh Grill, WCN missions coordinator, and Sandy Hatcher, WCN office administrator, organized the items Tuesday at the WCN office in Warsaw.
“When you have a disaster zone and go to Walmart or hardware stores, supplies are completely cleaned out,” Grill said. “The flood buckets represent hope and the first step for tornado victims to begin the clean up process.”
The Rauens also will deliver paper plates and bowls for tornado victims and volunteers.
Rauen previously delivered the generator to Henryville in 2012 and Joplin, Mo., in 2011 to assist in tornado relief efforts.
“We are going to Oklahoma to help these people who are suffering and help them piece their lives back together and give them hope,” Rauen said.
A 40-foot tractor trailer will go down to Oklahoma to deliver non perishable food and gatorade and water that has been donated by Feed The Hungry, South Bend, and New Life Christian Church, Warsaw.
Tim Grisham Ministries, Tipton, will deliver a trailer load today to Oklahoma.
Plans are for a second load of supplies to be delivered to Oklahoma later.
People can donate to disaster relief efforts on WCN’s website at www.wcn.org
People who want to donate hygiene products and cleanup supplies can do so by dropping off the items Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WCN office at 795 W. CR 400N, north of the Kosciusko County Raquet Club. Cash donations also are being accepted.[[In-content Ad]]
