Works Board Wraps up Concert Contracts

Summer entertainment contracts were awarded Friday by the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety, allowing the Parks Department three agreements for services related to Central Park's concert series.
The BOW approved a $1,000 agreement with Flo and Eddie, of the Turtles, for a hotel and transportation buyout of a previous agreement with Ramada Plaza Hotel. The two musicians will now travel from Chicago the day of the concert, June 16, instead of originally being housed in Warsaw.
Also approved was a $350 contract with John Finken, of Chrome Entertainment, for sound support for a June 23 concert, as well as a $2,185 contract with Stage Pro for musical equipment at the Classic Rock Concert.
In Warsaw Police Department matters, a $1,500, year-long lease agreement for a motorcycle was approved, allowing the WPD use of the vehicle for patrolling purposes and events such as parades.
The department also received clearance to apply for a $84,712 grant application from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. The potential funds would be used to properly investigate and prosecute fatality and serious injury traffic accidents caused by alcohol, drugs or reckless driving.
The grant application, if approved, would provide assistance for a county-wide Fatal Crash team, consisting of members of both the WPD and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
The board also:
• Awarded a bid to Vemeer of Indiana for the purchase of a jet vac to be used for cleaning purposes by the Street Department.
• Approved a encroachment agreement with Craig and Meighan Laird for property along Columbia Street. The Lairds recently purchased adjacent land to their original property and wish to extend a wrought iron fence. The fence is anticipated to meet zoning ordinances.
• Approved an agreement for financial management reports from Umbaugh, Plymouth, for recent sewer utility services performed for Warsaw.
Mayor Ernie Wiggins and Charlie Smith were present for Friday's meeting. Member Jerry Patterson was absent. [[In-content Ad]]
