A Warsaw taxi service owner's permit was suspended during Friday's Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

At its May 4 meeting, the board approved revoking S. Tyrone Lisenbee's taxi permit due to an incident May 1 involving a city violation.

A hearing was held during Friday's meeting where Lisenbee, Warsaw, requested his taxi permit not be revoked.

"I am ashamed, embarrassed and apologetic for the incident, but I don't feel I am a danger to myself or my clients," Lisenbee said.

Mayor Ernie Wiggins said Lisenbee's taxi permit will continue to be revoked for 30 days.

"We need to be concerned with public safety because that is the most important thing," said board member Jerry Patterson.

Lisenbee will have the opportunity to appear at the board's June 15 meeting to appeal the case again, but must have documentation of attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Wiggins said.
