City Planner Jeremy Skinner said the building and planning department received engineering service qualifications from three engineering firms, including DLZ Indiana, Bonar and Engineering Technologies Inc.

Skinner said the contract will need to be approved by the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The project will include the reconstruction of Parker Street and Argonne road on the east side of Warsaw.

The project will include reconstruction on Argonne Road, Parker and Center streets.

It also will include installing a new concrete sidewalk, drive approaches and curb and gutter, and new traffic signals at the intersections of Argonne Road and Jefferson Street and Argonne Road, Center and Parker streets.

Pavement markings, signs and a new enclosed storm drainage system also will be included in the project.

Warsaw has plans to make Dubois Drive from Parker Street to Provident Drive one way westbound. The change will alleviate traffic congestion at the Dubois Drive/Parker Street intersection, according to planning information.

The board also approved adjusting sewage charges for Hacienda Restaurant. John McCarty, general manager of Hacienda, 3085 Lake City Highway, submitted a letter during the board's March 16 meeting stating he had spoken with the sewage collection office for the amount of water lost down the restaurant's exterior drain over a four-month period due to a broken pipe.

Wiggins requested at the March 16 meeting average usage calculations be submitted and reviewed at the April meeting.

The board approved charging the restaurant for half of the 526,000 gallons, or 263,000 gallons, and the city splitting the difference for the water payments.

The board tabled a request from Oakwood Sexton Duane Ronk to purchase a new John Deere lawn mower for the cemetery.

The board also:

- Approved 2007 supply bid comparisons for concrete and aggregate comparisons to be used for Warsaw street revitalization projects.

- Approved a $35,812 grant from the Kosciusko 21st Century Foundation to allow the Warsaw Police Department to purchase 35 Motorola portable radios for officers for the department.

- Approved a request from the Warsaw Fire Department to apply for the 2007 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The grant is sponsored through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The department will apply for the firetruck grant to replace the 1986 fire engine and the 1989 water tanker. The cost to replace the engine and tanker is approximately $600,000.

- Approved a $1,000 contract between Chicago a capella band Vocal Chaos and the Warsaw Parks Department for the Friday evening concert series Aug. 31.

- Approved an encroachment agreement between the Warsaw planning department and Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home to allow the funeral home to construct a freestanding sign in the public right of way on Argonne Road. The funeral home will be constructed at 225 Argonne Road at the northeast corner of Argonne Road and Jefferson Street.

- Approved an agreement between the city and Warsaw Community Development Corp. to allow the city's parking lot on Buffalo and Indiana streets to be used for the Warsaw Downtown Farmers Market. The market will be held the first and third Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon June 2 through Oct. 27.

- Approved a $536 contract between Adams/Remco Inc., South Bend, and the Warsaw clerk treasurers office for typewriter maintenance.
