Jaclyne J. Skeens, 26, of 235 Eisenhower Parkway, Warsaw, was charged Monday with felony trafficking with an inmate by Kosciusko County prosecutors, accused of mailing powdered drugs to her husband at the Miami Correctional Facility in Peru in April.
On April 21, a cardboard envelope was delivered to the prison addressed to Roy Skeens. Roy Skeens is serving a two-year sentence for felony theft out of Wabash County, Indiana Department of Corrections records show.
Prison staff found children’s schoolwork inside, as well as a blue powder, according to Skeens’ probable-cause affidavit.
The powder tested as Oxycodone and Phentermine. Oxycodone is a popular painkiller that produces effects similar to heroin when used inappropriately. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant.
The return address on the envelope was a Jennifer Schultz of North Manchester, the affidavit said. It was mailed from the Pierceton post office.
Prison correction officers learned in a recorded conversation between Roy and Jaclyne Skeens on April 15 that a package containing drugs was going to be sent to Roy Skeens, the affidavit said, and investigators noted the handwriting on the envelope matched Jaclyne Skeens’.
A Pierceton postal worker identified Jaclyne as the woman who mailed the package, the affidavit said.
Skeens was arrested Monday. She is being held in Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
