The election will be in 2010. Wise, of Columbia City, previously ran for the seat in 2008 and lost 75 percent to 25 percent in the 2008 GOP primary.[[In-content Ad]]He attributes his defeat to his ineffectiveness in communicating the looming economic crisis, the large block of GOP voters that voted in the democratic primary and the difficulties in overcoming the advantages of incumbency.
"I didn't really ask for help in '08," Wise said.
"I am asking for help this time. I can't do it myself, and invite anyone who agrees this country is more important that one person or one political party to help put America first," Wise said.
Wise said during a telephone interview this morning that he has been considering for the past two months running for the seat.
Wise feels the federal government is off the reservation and is claiming powers not afforded it by the constitution. He also believes the federal government is acting irresponsibly on a number of fronts including education, border security, fiscal control, monetary policy, and influence peddling.
Wise said he believes that many republican voters feel as he does that the GOP has lost its way and its credibility.
He describes himself as a patriot, not a partisan.
"I gave up partisanship in 2006 when I realized the republican leadership was not more interested in securing the border than the democrats," Wise said.
"We had been at war for five years and border security was still not a priority."
