She was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Evansville, to Leonard and Esther Ershig Dewig. On Feb. 29, 1966, she married Michael Turpin, who preceded her in 2002.
She moved to North Webster in 1975, coming from New York City. She served for 15 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, serving tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam. She was a member of the American Legion as well as the Retired Navy Nurse Association.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clarence V. (Michelle) Lambert Jr., Slidell; a granddaughter, Vivianna Antoinette-Marie Lambert; five step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Evansville.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse.
