Winona Council OKs Grace College Bonds Refinancing

Al Feldbaum, Barnes and Thornburgh bond attorney representing Grace College, presented the request and said it is to refinance three outstanding bond issues.
“There will be no tax dollars involved and the college will make payments on the bond,” Feldbaum said.
The council will review the bond on second reading at its April meeting.
In other business, the council approved the town purchasing a generator from Cummins Generators for $25,843, and a $16,920 installation that will be done by LA Electric.
Josh Weaver, Jones Petrie Rafinski, said the town’s existing 1985 generator has electrical issues with the low voltage levels that can’t run two pumps.
The council also approved using up to $15,000 in the police department’s budgets to purchase six laptops that wil go inside police vehicles.
Erin Porter, Winona Lake Limitless Park committee member, gave an update on the park and said phase one, the splash pad, will have a soft opening May 15 at 6:30 p.m. by Winona Lake Park during the annual Fat and Skinny Tire Festival.
She thanked the town for its support and asked that if there are corporate donors that could be contacted about financial contributions toward the project, to let her know.
