WINONA LAKE - Renovations on CR 250E and Pierceton Road in Winona Lake are underway.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday in front of Lakeland Christian Academy.

The project will include total reconstruction of the roadways, including new concrete curbs, a new storm sewer system and improvements at the railroad crossing, according to Winona Lake Town Coordinator Craig Allebach.

The project began Wednesday with Phend & Brown employees installing a new storm sewer line along Pierceton Road, according to Phend & Brown project contractor Andy Brown.

Brown said drivers should expect road closures Aug. 20 on Pierceton Road and CR 250E from Lexington Manor Subdivision to Pierceton Road. He said the closures will last for approximately 30 days.

Brown said sections of CR 250E and Pierceton Road by Heritage Lake Park and Lexington Manor Subdivision and Lakeland Christian Academy will be closed during phases of the project.

The project is expected to be completed by June, Brown said.

Allebach said he plans on sending letters to residents along CR 250E updating them on the project as it progresses.

The project was developed using Indiana Department of Transportation and Winona Lake design standards and guidelines.

The construction cost was bid at approximately $2,642,000, Allebach said.

Funding for the project involves Federal Highway Funds administered through Indiana Department of Transportation and local funds.

Bonar Group, Fort Wayne, served as the engineering and design consultant for the town in preparing the design plans and construction documents.

Bonar will provide a resident project representative who will provide on-site inspection, construction administration and project assistance for the duration of the project.

Periodic project updates will be available on the Winona Lake town Web site at winonalake.net Questions concerning the project can be e-mailed to Allebach at [email protected][[In-content Ad]]
