Wilmer Lorne Bartel, died April 9, 2007, in John Knox Village Care Center, Lee's Summit, Mo.

He was born April 2, 1933, in Drake, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Edwin and Sara Bartel. His wife, Verna, survives.

Moving to Winona Lake from Canada in 1963, he was a printer by trade and established Bartel Printing Co. Inc. in 1970. He was director of Light and Life Press, then later founded The Cabinet House, from which he retired. He moved to Lee's Summit, and was a member of the Optimist Club, Gideon's International, Christian Business Men's Association and the Methodist Church.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tony (Marcia) Deaton, Stilwell, Kan.; a son, Murray Bartel, Warsaw; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Erwin and Laurence Bartel; and three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Leila) Kornelson, Erna Whittenberg and Mrs. DuWayne (Myrial) Wiebe. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, with the Rev. Doris Macha-Groom officiating.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
