William Russell “Russ” Ogden, 88, Winona Lake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 11, 2013, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Centerville, Iowa, to William A. and Frances E. Coffman Ogden. On Aug. 20, 1948, in Highland Park, Ill., he married Elizabeth “Betty” Ruth Ralph, who survives in Winona Lake.
He served the Lord through the Grace Brethren Church for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during World War II, and was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past four months.
Also surviving are two sons, James R. Ogden, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and David E. (and spouse Christine) Ogden, Sebring, Fla.; two daughters, Joan (and spouse Daniel) Snively, Fishers, and Carol Mills, Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (and spouse Ethelee) Ogden, Winona Lake; Dick (and spouse Betty) Ogden, Warren, Ohio; and a sister, Jeane Vanaman, Clarkston, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, in the chapel, with Pastor Jesse Deloe officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Mausoleum of Oakland Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis.
