William “Rock” Wells, 59, Warsaw, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Sept. 1, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 19, 1956, in Fremont, Ohio, to Lester and Versie Lacey Wells. On Dec. 26, 1987, in Warsaw, he married Beth Sims, who survives in Warsaw.
He was a Warsaw resident since 1977, and he was employed by R.R. Donnelly and Sons for 18 years as a shipping clerk and retired in 1993.
He attended Oswego Baptist Church. His hobbies included singing and music. He was a Girls Throws Coach for Warsaw Community High School for four years. He was known for his monstrous Fourth of July fireworks shows. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and James Bond fan. He cherished family vacations and spending time with family and his friends.
Also surviving are: a son, Leonard (and fiancé Johnna Rebenack) Wells, Warsaw; a sister, Evelyn (and spouse James) Higgins, Fremont, Ohio; a brother, Leonard Smith, Fremont, Ohio; four grandchildren: William, Andre, Addy and Leonard Jr. Wells; two aunts, Katherine Lacey, Hope, Ark., and Ella Mae Criner, Texarkana, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded by his parents; a son, William Wells; a grandson, Korbin Foster; two brothers, James and Chester Wells; a sister, Rosie Young; and his birth father, J.C. Wells.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Jim Mansfield officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
