He was born March 22, 1934, in Yorktown, to Marion and Minnie Hester McKinley Hofherr. On Aug. 21, 1959, in Muncie, he was united in marriage to Janet Lingle, who preceded him in death Sept. 16, 2006.
He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army as an Sp3 (T) Military Policeman with Company B 728th MP Battalion from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. After many years of service he retired from Indiana-Michigan Electric as a supervisor. He was a Tippecanoe Lake resident since 1985, and he was a member of the Syracuse American Legion Post# 223.
He is survived by a son, Brian Scott (and spouse Donna Gail) Hofherr, Atwood; a daughter, Karla (and spouse John) Drudge, Warm Springs, Ga.: and two sisters, Nancy Reynolds, Bradenton, Fla., and Mary Lou Witty, Yorktown. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Ellen Kinzer, who died Aug. 7, 2012; four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hawk Cemetery, Yorktown.
No calling is planned.
