NORTH MANCHESTER - William L. Owens, 71, of Silver Lake, died at 6:30 a.m. Oct. 12, 2008, in Select Speciality Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born July 3, 1937, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Jimmy and Lola Miller Owens. On Feb. 9, 1963, he married Patsy J. Bucher, who survives.

A foundry molder for 32 years, he worked at Lakeside Foundry, Warsaw; Akron Foundry; and retired from Manchester Foundry. He owned Lantern Café, Silver Lake, from 1986-2006. He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake.

Surviving are two sons, Duane Owens, Warsaw, and Jeff (and spouse Lori) Owens, Silver Lake; four daughters: Brenda Eckert, Silver Lake; Sheryl Carnes, Denton, Texas; Carol (and spouse Bryan) Severns, Mentone; and Shelly (and spouse Wes) Yarian, Akron; three sisters, Elleree (and spouse Butler) Johnson and Jearlean Hyden, all of Warsaw, and Ada Prater, Silver Lake; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, with Pastor Frank Whitaker and the Rev. Robie Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
