William L. "Bill" Hilliard, 69, of 270 Gilliam Drive, Warsaw, went to join the Lord at 8:25 a.m. Feb. 2, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, after struggling a long and hard battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Kenneth and Estelle Parker Hilliard. On Aug. 1, 1964, he married Rae Hanna, who survives.

He graduated from South High School in 1959, and recently attended with his high school sweetheart, Rae, their 50th class reunion. A graduate of Youngstown State University, he worked in the information services department at YSU before joining Zimmer, Warsaw, in 1977, retiring in 1993. After retirement there, he joined Lake City Bank in the operations department. He had a unique sense of humor, always a smile on his face and a story to tell or a punchline. He was a Past Grand Knight and active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4511. He was also a past board member and active member of the Warsaw Morning Optimist Club. He was currently a member of Center Lake Conservation Association and past president and treasurer. The family all looked forward to Sunday breakfasts when he was in Youngstown and made them stacks of his well-known pancakes.

Also surviving are a son, William K. Hilliard, Columbus, Ind.; two grandsons, Parker and Taylor, whom he loved spending time with, baking bread, fishing and fun vacations; a sister, Harriet Harold Deeds, Youngstown; two brothers-in-law, Robert Hanna, Oldsmar, Fla., and Fred Hanna, Palm Harbor, Fla.; special nieces and nephews: Jennifer Hanna, Germany; Bob Hanna, Rochester Hills, Mich.; Cheryl (and spouse Pat) Morrow, Youngstown; Cathy (and spouse James) Gallo and Clifford (and spouse Theresa) Thompson III, Poland; and many great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Roberta Hanna.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison St., Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
