He was born July 15, 1924, in Linton. Jo Ann, his wife of 65 years, survives.
He was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, and attended the University of Louisville. He served as a U.S. Navy medical corpsman during World War II and worked in auto sales for 30 years. For the past 33 years, he and his wife were known as "the T-Shirt people" at festivals throughout Indiana.
Also surviving are four daughters: Becky (and spouse Larry) Beardsley and Barbara Lake, all of New Haven; Missy (and spouse Tom) Sorensen, Milford; and Jan (and spouse Mark) Childs, Fort Riley, Kan; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, infant daughter and two grandchildren.
