AKRON - William F. Lake, 86, of 10958 Ind. 14, Akron, died at 4:45 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Lawrenceville, Ill., to James A. and Daisey Ferguson Lake. On April 17, 1970, in Lawrenceville, he married Mary Maxine Caudill Fairchild, who survives.

He formerly worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation, retiring at 70. He was a member of Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge and attended Illinois State College. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sharon (and spouse Gary) Johnson, Fort Wayne, and Kay (and spouse Jack) Bonner, Fletcher, N.C.; two sons, Scott (and spouse Sandra) Fairchild, Fort Wayne, and Mark (and spouse Diana) Fairchild, Louisville, Texas; a sister, Mary Havill, Lawrenceville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a son.

No services or calling are planned.

Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, is in charge of arrangements.
