William E. “Bill” Goshert, 86, Warsaw, died at 11:20 p.m. May 12, 2014, at his residence in Miller’s Merry Manor.
He was born May 19, 1927, in Mentone to Ronald Andy and Ruth Burt Goshert. On Nov. 3, 1946, in Richmond he married Delores “Dede” Hume, who survives.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He was a 1945 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, and received a master’s degree in education from North Manchester University. He served in the U.S. Navy, Baker 3c and was honorably discharged July 23, 1946.
He worked at WCSC for 40 years, retiring in 1987 as a teacher, football coach and business manager. He helped start coaching of Warsaw Pee Wee football. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge, Retired Teachers Association of Indiana, Rosella Golf Course, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and was active in church organizations. His hobbies included golf, watching all sports and going to see grandkids’ events. Coaching was his passion along with working with youth. He coached high school football at Portland, 1955-1957; Warsaw, 1957-1965; and Northside, 1965-1669.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ann (and spouse Taylor) Seward, Warsaw, and Sherry (and spouse Charlie) Stultz, South Bend; a son, Rocky (and spouse Joy) Goshert, Warsaw; seven grandsons: Brody (and spouse Katie) Shively, Plymouth; Cale (and spouse Cindy) Shively, Noblesville; Jeff (and spouse Allyson) Stultz, Hilliard, Ohio; Brian (and spouse Kelly) Stultz, South Bend; Cody and Taylor Goshert, both of Warsaw; Drake Klopfenstein, Warsaw; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Houser, Fort Wayne; an uncle, Jim (and spouse Liola) Goshert, Mentone; a nephew, Gary (and spouse Cindy) Ligonier; and a niece, Vonnie Miller, Asheville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Goshert, who died Dec. 19, 2012.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Lee Harman, lay leader at Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
