William 'Duane' Rogers

William “Duane” Rogers, 53, Irvington, Ky., and formerly of Claypool, went to be with the Lord  at 8:12 p.m. April 19, 2014, at his parents’ residence in Claypool, after battling cancer for a short period of time.
He was born Aug. 28, 1960, in Rochester to William Lloyal and Dorothy Marie Thompson Rogers.
He was a 1979 graduate of Warsaw Community High School where he was a member of FFA.
He also lived in rural Rochester; Rosebush, Mich.; and Monte Vista, Colo. He was raised on the family farm in Claypool where he enjoyed raising steers and pigs. He was a carpenter and farmer, and most recently worked for Yoder-Miller Carpentry in Irvington.
He was a devout Christian, a member of the Packerton United Methodist Church in his youth and was a compassionate and caring person with many friends. He loved raising his registered Belgian horses and his Great Pyrenees dog, Mable. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents,  Dorothy and Dan Willis, Claypool; his step-mother, Cindy Weaver, Columbia City; eight siblings: Dan (and spouse Beth) Willis, Terre Haute; Sharissa (and spouse Hugh) Hazeltine, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Shawnita Steffen, Goshen; Susie Dussart, Albuquerque, N.M.; Shartrina (and spouse Matt) White, Cape Haze, Fla.; Amy (and spouse Tracy) Furnivall, and Sheila (and spouse Rich) Groninger, all of Warsaw; Shanna (and spouse Bruce) Halas, Chicago, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, who died Sept. 16, 2001; two grandmothers, Lois Thompson Scherer, who died Dec. 2, 1999, and Elizabeth Marie Rogers, who died Feb. 2, 2000; two grandfathers, Loren Joseph Thompson, who died Jan. 23, 1968, and Maurice Sheldon Rogers, who died April 23, 1998.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastors William Wood, Packerton United Methodist Church, Jeff Pfeifer, Warsaw Community Church, and Dr. Dan Willis, Hulman Street Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial is in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
